What is Eczema? A medical condition that causes rough patches on the skin also adding irritation and inflammation. NOT CONTAGIOUS!!!!
What causes Eczema? The cause of Eczema is something that really can’t be explained. It really revolves around the immune system. From our understanding and what doctors have researched it’s our immune system overreacting to an irritant. It normally comes from if you’re family has a history of allergies and asthma. Some symptoms are itching, flakiness, bumps, peeling of the skin, dryness and dandruff.
What is Atopic Dermatitis? It’s a chronic skin condition that’s long lasting. It makes the skin red, itchy and scaly. If you have Atopic Dermatitis you may have flare-ups quite often, which is normal. People who have Atopic Dermatitis have a 50% chance of having Asthma as well.
What is Seborrheic Dermatitis? A medical condition that mainly affects the scalp. It causes scaly patches and stubborn dandruff to the scalp. It also can affect areas on the face (nose, eyelids, ears) and chest.
What is Psoriasis? A medical condition that causes an excess of thick, scaly, silvery skin patches surrounded by a red area. Typically affects the scalp, elbows and knees.
What is Contact Dermatitis? A rash that is caused by an allergic reaction from contact substances (dyes, detergents, nickle, fabrics or plants). The longer the skin is in contact with the irritant the longer the reaction will occur.
What are ways to treat the different types of skin conditions?
-Seborrheic Dermatitis: From my research medical shampoos, creams and ointments (try our Relief Body Ointment or Miracle Elixir). Home remedies such as softening of the hair and removing the scales from the scalp. Avoid products with alcohol and avoiding styling products when a flare-up is happening.
-Atopic Dermatitis: Keeping the skin hydrated is extremely important. Use non-fragrance products. Use ointment based texture products for an example our Relief Body Ointment. No water base products because it can dry out the skin more due to the main ingredient being water.
-Psoriasis: A prescribed steroid or coal tar form your doctor. Want something natural try our Relief Body Ointment.
-Contact Dermatitis: Avoid the irritant and apply a cream from your doctor or try our Relief Body Ointment.
What food increases a flare-up? Citrus fruits, dairy, eggs, nuts, soy, wheat/gluten and tomatoes.
Reduces flare ups? Pro-biotic food like dairy-free yogurt and Salmon.
Is there a cure? Unfortunately there isn’t a cure but can be managed with treatment.
